# Cold Formed Products > Cold Formed Products Limited (CFP) are a UK-based manufacturer specialising in aluminium impact extrusions and forging of parts. Incorporated in 1962 and located in Plaistow, London, CFP are long-established world leaders in impact extrusion technology. The company produces high-integrity precision engineering components for the automotive, aerospace, defence and cookware industries, with direct exports accounting for a significant proportion of sales. CFP hold numerous quality accreditations, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and hold JOSCAR registration and Cyber Essentials Plus certification. The company produces tens of millions of parts per year, controlling its entire production process in-house, except for a small number of subcontracted operations. ## Key Pages - [Home](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/): Overview of capabilities, markets and processes - [Our Company](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-company/): Company history, capabilities and quality philosophy - [Process](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/process/): Explanation of impact extrusion and forging processes - [Our Products](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/): Overview of product markets — Automotive, Aerospace & Defence, Cookware, Others - [Quality Accreditations](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/quality/): Certifications and quality management standards held - [Contact Us](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/contact/): Contact details and address - [Privacy Policy](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/privacy-policy/): Cookie information ## Process - [Process](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/process/): The primary processes are impact extrusion and forging, or a combination of both. The cold forming process involves placing an aluminium slug into the die of a press and striking it with a punch. The resulting pressure causes the slug to fill the die and take the required shape. Forward extrusion, backward extrusion and forging can be combined in a single pressing operation to produce highly complex parts. CFP have developed tooling techniques considered unique in the industry. In-house tooling design and manufacture, combined with decades of experience, enable consistent holding of dimensions within narrow tolerance bands over large production runs. ## Products by Market ### Automotive - [Automotive](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/automotive/): Lightweight and recyclable aluminium components for the automotive sector. Automotive accounts for typically over 80% of CFP's turnover. - [Brake Systems](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/automotive/brake-systems/): Safety-critical components including pistons for ABS systems, where dimensional repeatability and close tolerances are essential - [Cable Systems](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/automotive/cable-systems/): Union nuts and ferrules for cable end systems, supplied in alloys offering excellent corrosion resistance. Parts can survive the US 96-hour salt spray test without surface protection - [Fixing Systems](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/others/fixing-systems/): Studs, stud plates and rivet plates in alloys suited to rivet and self-tapping screw applications ### Aerospace & Defence - [Aerospace & Defence](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/aerospace-defence/): High-specification components for complex aircraft heat exchangers and missile guidance systems. CFP has a long tradition of supplying defence organisations throughout the world with parts for weapons guidance, practice rounds, distress signal flares, weapon effects simulation and decoy flares ### Cookware - [Cookware](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/others/cookware/): Impact extrusion for cookware applications ### Others - [Others](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/our-products/others/): CFP uses the benefits of the impact extrusion process — including material efficiency, high-integrity design and dimensional consistency — to produce components for a wide range of additional markets ## Quality & Accreditations - [Quality Accreditations](https://www.coldformedproducts.co.uk/quality/): IATF 16949 (automotive quality management), ISO 9001 (quality management systems), ISO 14001 (environmental management systems), JOSCAR registration, Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
